Tutorial (32K & 64K models)

Using the KEYKatcher is easy .....

Accessing the Menu

If you know how to use a word processor, you already have the basic skills needed to use a KEYKatcher. Simply open WordPad, and type your password. The default password for the 32K and 64K models is "keykatch". As soon as the password is typed, the KEYKatcher responds with a menu. Now you have full access to the device. Simply select the number of the menu option which you desire. Select option '7' when you no longer wish to use the KEYKatcher. The KEYKatcher will respond with "Bye." to indicate that you have selected the Exit option.

View Memory

After the menu comes up, select '1' to view the KEYKatcher memory. The KEYKatcher will begin writing the contents of memory into your WordPad document. All typing is displayed including chat rooms, e-mail, web addresses, and even instant messaging. After the full contents of the memory are displayed, you may wish to save the file to your hard drive. It is saved just as you would save any other document that you prepared in WordPad.

Erase Memory

The 'Erase Memory' simply erases all contents of the KEYKatcher memory.

Change Password

The 'Change Password' option allows you to set a custom password for your KEYKatcher device. The password should be something which would not be typed during normal operation, such as "abcd45tr", and should not be a password or password subset used on your system. After entering your new password twice, the KEYKatcher will respond with "Password updated" if both entries match. The example on the left shows the password changed to "florida"

Disable recording

This menu option is used to temporarily disable the device. It will read as "Disable recording" during normal operation.

NETPatrol

NETPatrol is a means for quickly identifying all internet address which have been typed on your computer. The KEYKatcher scans the memory for all occurences of "http", "www.", ".com", and ".net". The example on the left shows "www.yahoo.com" being flagged. It is flagged twice, once due to the occurence of "www" and once due to the occurence of ".com"
